Export a document to Word, PDF or PowerPoint
Last updated: September 4, 2026
Export any document from its ⋯ menu as a Word file (.docx), a PowerPoint deck (.pptx) or, if enabled for your workspace, a PDF. Anyone who can open the document can export it; no admin setup is needed. Word and PDF exports download straight to your browser, while PowerPoint exports are built by the Rhythms assistant in a chat thread so you can pick a slide template.
Export a document to Word
- Open the document.
- Click ⋯ in the top-right of the document and choose Export to Word.
- Wait for the toast Word export downloaded. Your browser saves a .docx file named after the document.
Headings, text formatting, tables and images are preserved. Diagrams are converted to images first, so a document with many diagrams shows a "Preparing Word export…" progress message. Very large documents can take up to 90 seconds; if an export times out, split the document into smaller sections and try again.
Export a document to PowerPoint
- Click ⋯ › Export to PowerPoint on the document.
- In the dialog, either click Skip, use default styling for Rhythms' default styling, or upload a .pptx template (or pick one you saved earlier) and click Export with selected template. You can add a short note such as "one slide per section, highlight risks first".
- A chat opens and the assistant builds the deck, matching your template's styling if you supplied one. The finished .pptx appears in the chat for download.
Templates you upload can be saved, renamed and deleted from the same dialog so your team reuses one house style.
Export a document to PDF
If PDF export is enabled for your workspace, ⋯ › Export to PDF appears alongside the Word and PowerPoint options. It downloads a print-ready PDF of the full document, with the same diagram preparation step as Word. If you do not see the option, PDF export is not enabled for your workspace; export to Word and save as PDF from Word instead.
Some workspaces have a single ⋯ › Export item that opens one dialog with PDF, Word and PowerPoint tabs. The options behave the same way.
Export from chat
You can also ask the assistant directly while viewing a document: "Export this document as a Word file" or "Export this document as a PowerPoint using our template". The assistant produces the file in the chat thread.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an admin to enable export? No. Word and PowerPoint export are available in every workspace. PDF export depends on your workspace's configuration.
Who can export a document? Anyone who can open it, including people with view-only access.
Are comments included? No. Exports contain the document content only.
Does exporting change the document? No. Exporting creates a separate file and never modifies the document in Rhythms.
Can I export a document that was created from a layout, or one that auto-refreshes? Yes. The export reflects the content at the moment you export; export again after the next refresh to pick up new values.
Why is Export greyed out? Export is unavailable while a document is being generated or refreshed. Wait for the refresh to finish and try again.
