# Find your way around Rhythms

Rhythms has three parts on screen: the left sidebar for getting around, the main area where you work, and the chat panel where you ask Rhythms to do things for you. This article walks through the sidebar from top to bottom, says what each area is for, and points you to the article for each task.

## The sidebar

The left sidebar is the same on every page. From top to bottom:

* **New Chat** and **Chats**: start a conversation with Rhythms, or open the list of all your conversations.
* **Search Rhythms**: search OKRs and documents. Press **/** anywhere to open it.
* **Command Center**, if enabled for your workspace: a personal page of what needs your attention.
* **Inbox**: your notifications.
* **Exports**: appears once you have exported something, and lists your export files.
* **Favorites**: views, documents and chats you have starred.
* **Recent**: documents and chats you have opened lately.
* **Workspace**: **OKRs**, **Library**, and under **More**, **Reports**, **Views**, **Teams** and **Users**. Depending on what is enabled for your workspace you may also see **Initiatives**, **Playbooks**, **Skills**, **Marketplace** and **Operating Memory**.
* **Your teams**: each team you belong to, with its own OKRs, Initiatives and Reports.
* Links your organisation has added, then **Help** (contact support), **My connectors**, and, for Rhythms Admins, **Settings**.

You can drag items to reorder the Favorites, Recent and Workspace sections and move items above or below the **More** cutoff. Press **\[** to collapse or expand the sidebar; when collapsed it shows icons only. Press **?** to see all keyboard shortcuts.

## OKRs

**OKRs** is where objectives, key results and initiatives live. The tabs across the top are views a Rhythms Admin has pinned; a new workspace starts with **My OKRs**, your company's OKRs and **All OKRs**. Use the filter bar to narrow by team, owner, time period, status and more, and **Display options** to switch between Alignment tree, List, Board, Alignment graph and Strategy map, and choose grouping, sorting and columns. Press **Shift + R** to expand or collapse every row at once.

Click an OKR to open it. Its **⋯** menu includes **Cascade to Teams**, which opens a chat that proposes aligned OKRs for each of your teams. When you write a title, the **Improve** button (or **Suggest** when the field is empty) asks Rhythms to sharpen it and explain why.

Start with [Creating OKRs and initiatives](/goals-and-okrs/creating-goals/create-okrs-and-initiatives.md), [Managing and updating OKRs](/goals-and-okrs/managing-and-tracking-goals/edit-and-update-okrs.md), [Effective check-ins](/goals-and-okrs/managing-and-tracking-goals/write-and-submit-check-ins.md) and [AI goal authoring](/goals-and-okrs/creating-goals/draft-okrs-with-ai.md).

## Views

**Views** is the library of every saved OKR view: the ones Rhythms created, the ones you made and the ones shared with you. Create views here, favourite them for your sidebar, and share them with people or teams. See [Create and share OKR views](/goals-and-okrs/monitoring-and-reports/create-and-share-okr-views.md) and [Filtering and grouping OKRs in views](/goals-and-okrs/monitoring-and-reports/filtering-and-grouping-okrs-in-views.md).

## Library

**Library** holds your documents and layouts. Switch between **Documents** and **Layouts** at the top, and use **Create a document** or **Create a layout** to have Rhythms build one in chat, for example a monthly business review generated from a saved OKR view. Documents can be refreshed on demand, shared, commented on and exported to Word. See [Reviews and layouts](/documents-and-library/create-reviews-from-layouts.md), [Refreshing documents](/documents-and-library/keep-a-document-up-to-date-automatically.md) and [Sharing documents](/documents-and-library/share-a-document.md).

## Reports

**Reports** shows the health of your OKR program rather than the performance of the business: check-in coverage and compliance, alignment, connector coverage, adoption and at-risk OKRs, sliced by team, manager or person. Everyone can open the **Organization OKR Program Pulse**. See [Monitor OKR program health with Reports](/goals-and-okrs/monitoring-and-reports/monitor-okr-program-health-with-reports.md).

## Teams and Users

**Teams** shows your organisation's team tree. Teams can nest as deep as you need, and each team gets its own OKR and report views. **Users** lists everyone in the workspace with their role and manager. See [Create and manage teams](/workspace-settings-and-administration/team-users-and-access/create-and-manage-teams.md) and [User management](/workspace-settings-and-administration/team-users-and-access/add-and-manage-users.md).

## Inbox

**Inbox** collects your notifications in one list: check-in reminders and nudges, mentions in comments and check-ins, delegation changes, shares and access requests, approval requests, connector status changes and notices about deactivated colleagues. Click one to open the OKR or document it is about.

## Chat

The chat panel opens beside whatever you are looking at; press **\\** to show or hide it, or open a conversation full screen from **Chats**. Ask Rhythms to create OKRs, run a check-in, build a view, write a document or export a deck, and it acts on the page you have open. Conversations are saved and appear under **Recent**; star one to keep it in **Favorites**. Rhythms also works in Slack and Microsoft Teams; see [Getting started with Rhythms in Slack](/getting-started/getting-started-in-slack/getting-started-with-rhythms-in-slack.md).

## Search

Press **/** or click **Search Rhythms**. Results are grouped into **All**, **Objectives**, **Key Results**, **Initiatives** and **Documents**. See [Using quick search](/getting-started/basics/using-quick-search-in-rhythms.md).

## Connectors and Settings

**My connectors** is where you connect your own accounts, such as Jira, Planner or Google Sheets, so key results update automatically every day. See [How to set up auto-updates](/connectivity/connectors/set-up-automatic-updates-from-a-connector.md). **Settings**, visible to Rhythms Admins only, covers the workspace: general options, connectors, users, teams, time periods, permissions and terminology. To add your own links to everyone's sidebar, see [Add links to your sidebar](/workspace-settings-and-administration/customize-rhythms-settings/organization-help-add-key-resources-to-the-side-nav.md).

## Optional areas

Some areas appear only when enabled for your workspace. **Command Center** is a personal, editable page summarising what needs your attention. **Playbooks** runs recurring work for you, such as a weekly review document; see [Creating and running playbooks](/playbooks/create-and-run-a-playbook.md). **Skills** holds reusable instructions Rhythms follows in chat. **Marketplace** offers ready-made solutions to install. **Operating Memory** shows what Rhythms has learned about your organisation. If you do not see one of these and think you should, ask a Rhythms Admin.

## FAQ

**I cannot find Views, Reports or Teams in the sidebar.** They are under **More** in the Workspace section. Click More to expand it, or drag them above the cutoff so they are always visible.

**Why do I not see Settings?** Settings is only shown to Rhythms Admins. Members and Guests can change their own profile from the account menu at the bottom of the sidebar.

**What are the keyboard shortcuts?** Press **?** for the full list. The most used are **/** for search, **\[** to toggle the sidebar, **\\** to toggle chat and **Shift + R** to expand or collapse all OKRs.

**Which OKRs can I see?** Rhythms only shows you OKRs you have permission to view, in every page and export. See [OKR visibility](/goals-and-okrs/creating-goals/control-who-can-see-an-okr.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.rhythms.ai/goals-and-okrs/okr-foundations-and-structure/find-your-way-around-rhythms.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `build a script that syncs our docs to a CMS` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
